The current exhibit is entitled

"Traces of China: The Japanese

Transformation of Chinese Themes and Techniques"

Many thanks to Celine and

Bob, our great docents,

that showed us such a

wonderful time!

Many thanks to Southern California Edison Co. for

the generous grant that made this happen!!

The Creative Center students and staff traveled by chartered bus to tour The Clark Center for Japanese Art and Culture on Wednesday and Thursday, June 25 and 26.  The transportation was made possible by a grant from Southern California Edison Co. and The Creative Center paid a generously reduced admission fee for the attendees.  Over 110 students and staff visited this amazing center located south of Hanford, CA on 10th Avenue over the course of two days.  This is part of The Creative Center's cultural enrichment programming for 2008.  We were so excited to get to make the trip!

The Clark Center for Japanese Art and Culture was founded in 1995 to "collect, conserve, study, and exhibit", the paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts of Japan.

30TH ANNIVERSARY E-mail

                                                                                   Violet Ginsburg

                                                                    Founder of The Creative Center

                                                                  February 14, 1919 - March 30, 2006

On Friday, September 28, more than 250 students, family members, staff and Board Directors joined in celebration of The Creative Center's 30th Anniversary.  Our late and beloved founder, Vi Ginsburg, was memorialized by the dedication of our newest facility as the "Violet Ginsburg Life Skills Center" with a beautiful bronze plaque unveiled that will forever remind all of her tireless contributions to the developmentally disabled population throughout Tulare and Kings Counties.  The evening of celebration, funded by The Creative Center Foundation, was made even more special with comments from Robert Riddick, Central Valley Regional Center, Inc. Executive Director, Kathleen Remillard, Foundation Executive Director, Karen Hovannisian, President of the Foundation Board, and Board Director Ralph Jordan.  Of special note was a moving review of the first thirty years by past Executive Director, Helen Stanton.  Constance Tippett was lauded by The Creative Center Board President, Jim Vidak, for her twenty years of visual arts instruction at The Creative Center.  Before partaking of a scrumptious dinner, attendees had the opportunity to visit the classrooms, instructional staff and administrators to see firsthand the wonderful things that happen here because of the efforts of so many including a fabulously talented staff!
