The Creative Center is a non-profit community arts center for adults with developmental disabilities with the mission of fostering self-expression, self-worth and personal growth through the arts, community integration, providing cultural resources to the community, and recognizing the individual’s value and contribution.
The Creative Center is a Day Training Activity Center serving adults with developmental disabilities since 1977, licensed under the State of California Deportment of Developmental Services as Facility #547203430, a vendor of service to the Central Valley Regional Center, Inc.
The Performing Arts program offers music instruction in keyboard, drums, and guitar ranging from classical to contemporary styles. Dance and drama classes include developing basic skills, stage presence and other vital components, as well as public performances. This includes are Creative Center Players and In House Band.
The Visual Arts department offers a dynamic combination of studio instruction, socially engaged public art projects, exhibition opportunities, and fine craft production for our in house Ginsburg Gallery. The Visual Arts program seeks to serve the whole person, transforming the lives of adults with intellectual disabilities through he arts, building self-esteem, fine and gross motor skills, cultivating community integration and social skills as well as building job and vocational skills.
The Life Skills/Enrichment program is training offered to our clients to encourage the development of independence and everyday living skills. These include computer training, health and fitness, mathematics, reading, and gardening.
At the Creative Center, it is our goal to provide a well-rounded program that develops all aspects of each individual artistically, behaviorally, and socially. To achieve this goal, we offer participants a wide range of training sessions including: art, choir, hand-bells, dance, drama, computer skills, academics, yoga, and much more.
